Recently renovated, Twist is the longest running gay club in Miami (working on 17 years) where locals and tourists mix and party in a complex that feature seven unique bars.
As you walk in, you enter through “Video Pub” with it’s dark walls and décor that feels more like a study. You can catch retro music videos or even a movie like “Jackass” playing on various flat screens.
As you continue toward the back of the club there’s a dimly lit tropical setting dubbed the “Garden”. Right next to the “Garden” is the “Bungalow Bar” where the fun really begins. Here you’ll find an assortment of hot, erotic male dancers waiting for your dollars. (Lap dances are available, just remember to tip generously; the m.c. will remind you). Most of these gay for pay dancers are friendly, but some can be pushy so don’t be afraid to say no and move on (that is, unless they’re hot).
Move out of the bungalow and walk upstairs where you’ll encounter a Key West setting as open windows with large white shutters line the “Patio Bar”. As you leave the patio bar and enter the “Main Room” the music starts to pound and thump on the tiny dance floor that is usually packed. (tip: keep watch on your wallet). With low ceilings you get a house party vibe going as you maneuver your way through the tight crowd of onlookers and dancers. In front of the dance floor the hot bartenders serve not so pricey drinks at the main bar.
Leave the house beats behind and groove to hip-hop in the more upscale “Frolic Lounge” located on the other side of the main bar. Drag shows sometimes go on in this area as well or just step back and observe the ever changing parade of human flesh..
If you are looking to play billiards or video games you can find them on the lower level in the “Game Room”. You can exit the club via this room.
When to arrive: The later you get there, the better. The best time to arrive is after 1 a.m. People usually end their nights at Twist, but don’t get there too late or you’ll end up waiting in line.
