Going casual for the summer is db Bistro, 255 Biscayne Blvd. Way, which, for the second summer in a row, will be featuring a satellite version of the uber popular DBGB Kitchen and Bar from DC and NYC, from May 26 – July 31. Chef Jason Pringle will recreate fan faves including Thai Sausage with pork, lemongrass, red curry, green papaya, basil fried rice, chili sauce, quail egg; The Piggie Burger, a 7 oz. beef patty topped with bbq pulled pork, jalapeno mayonnaise, lettuce and a brioche bun; and the Peach Melba Sundae with peaches, chantilly and raspberry coulis. There will also be a “tap takeover” by J. Wakefield Brewery, which will serve three beers — Dragonfruit Passion Fruit made exclusively for db Bistro Moderne Miami; Desperado, a Russian imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels; and Hop for Teacher IPA, deep orange Indian Pale Ale infused with citrus and tropical fruits. For the bigger appetites, there will also be Whole Hog Feasts in the wine cellar for up to 8 guests featuring meat, lots of it, including an entire slow roasted suckling pig stuffed with pork loin, among other things. The DBGB menu will be available daily in the bar and lounge from 4-8 p.m. through July 31. Diners in the main dining room can choose from either the DBGB specialties or the regular db Bistro Moderne menu during lunch and dinner. In honor of its first year in business, Sriracha House, 1502 Washington Ave., is having a big party from 7 – 10 p.m. Thursday, May 28 and in lieu of gifts on their birthday, the restaurant is actually giving the gift of charity to the Diabetes Research Institute in honor of the late Rebecca Kollaras, an esteemed member of Miami’s PR community who recently passed away from complications from the disease. From May 28 through June 30 the restaurant will donate proceeds from two signature noodle bowls that will be revealed at the party. You’ll also get free Funky Buddha and Chang beer as well as tastes of several noodle bowls and wok combos. To RSVP for the party, email RSVP@getinkpr.com. To reserve your slurping spot in philanthropic history from now through June 30, call 305-534-0303 or go to www.srirachahouse.com.
LILT Lounge, 270 Biscayne Blvd. Way, is teaming up with an unlikely partner — the Biscayne Nature Center — to celebrate the beginning of sea turtle nesting season with a special extended happy hour from 6 – 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 27. You will get specially priced champagnes, cocktails, $1 oysters, live music and an opportunity to sign up early to see live baby sea turtles at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center’s hot ticket event — the Full Moon Sea Turtle Release, taking place later this summer. The happy hour is part of LILT’s new monthly Party-For-A-Cause Series which basically gives you a better reason to booze it up than, well, just to booze it up. Tickets are $20 at the door or in advance click here.
Bringing Sexy Backless
Not everyone should wear bikinis, like, ever, but those people will likely not be partaking in FIFTY Ultra Lounge’s (485 Brickell Ave.) pool party and bikini contest at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 24. The event, part of the Viceroy Miami’s “Some Like It Hot” summer campaign requires contestants to present their two sexiest bikinis by 1 p.m. The first place winner gets $1,000. There will be free champagne for women from 1 – 3 p.m. and VIP tables come with $100 off bottle service. Admission is $20 and that, we have a feeling, will be the only thing under cover. For reservations call 305-766-6730.
