Rockin’ in the Free World

Grin ‘n’ Beer It
ROK: BRGR may be missing a few vowels but when it comes to its Fall Beer Festival from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, there’s not much that’s AWOL. There you’ll find an outdoor/indoor block party with beer tents from 7 to 8 different breweries, mostly local, set to the tune of music by the Problem Kids and DJ Hans. The event is free, all you do is purchase drink tickets or food from a fall inspired menu being cooked outdoors — turkey sliders, pulled pork sliders, Shepherd’s Pie. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Baptist Health Foundation.
Grease is the Word, Charlie Brown
Blue Starlite Mini Urban Drive-In is feeling very festive, celebrating its one year anniversary in Florida and, of course, the upcoming holiday season. They are putting on a very special double feature at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at Virginia Key Beach (4020 Virginia Beach Dr.) with a screening of Grease Sing-A-Long and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. The two couldn’t be any further apart, just like Danny and Sandy and look how that turned out! Tickets range from $5 to $55 and are available at http://bluestarlitemiami.vbotickets.com/events.
Why wait until Thanksgiving Day to put yourself into a mythical turkey-induced coma when you can start early, like, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at Batch Gastropub (30 SW 12th St.) for Drinksgiving? Ladies get free champagne from 6 to 7 p.m. From there, head over to STEAM Miami (30 NE 14th St.) where at 9 p.m. it’s the Sweat Records + Creations’ 12th Annual 80s Prom, a Thanksgiving Eve tradition celebrating that most excellent era. There will be “elegant decorations, slow dances,” a promo photo booth by the legendary JIPSY and $5 prom punch all night. Dress code is “sharp and tease, crimp, spray or mousse your hair.” Tickets are $10 in advance at http://bit.ly/80sprom12.
