You know those people who post I Love Mondays on social media? The same ones who feel #blessed with every breath they take? Anyway, sometimes you just want to punch them, but instead, when you’re feeling blue on a Monday, consider half-priced bottles of sake at Katsuya South Beach at the SLS Hotel, 1701 Collins Ave. Sake Mondays will offer every single bottle on Katsuya’s stellar sake menu half off. Better than smacking down those manic Monday lovers, no?
Kids are cute, but pets don’t talk back. Those who have furry friends know what we mean. And in celebration of your furry, four legged “children,” Lique Miami Waterfront Restaurant and Lounge, 3957 NE 163rd St., is hosting a Mother’s Day themed Sunset Cocktail Yappy Hour from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 6. A $30 donation at the door gets you two drink tickets and hors d’oeuvres. Best of all, all proceeds benefit Humane Society of Greater Miami. That’s nothing to bark at.
Del Boca Disco
Long, long before Beyoncé was a fetus, there existed a sonic movement that was exactly that–music that made people dance and not dissect the lyrics because, well, how hard is it to figure out what “do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight” means? Paying proper homage to this footloose and fancy free era is The Boca Raton Resort & Club, 501 E. Camino Real, where, on Saturday May 21, some of the biggest names of disco will spin and perform at a hustlin’ hootenanny of glittery proportions.
The “disco” opens at 7 p.m. with Jellybean Benitez hosting performances by Tavares (More Than a Woman, Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel), Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge fame, France Joli (Come To Me) and Evelyn Champagne King (Shame).
To get in, you needn’t pass muster by discriminatory door goons, but rather, pay $295, which includes one night’s accommodations, two general admission tickets to Saturday night and deluxe open bar. There are other packages available for high rollers, which include private tables, meet and greets and or cabanas. To get your disco on, click here.
