Pembroke Pines has a new drinking den

The bar

Village Tavern

The vibe

When it comes to craft cocktails and mixology, Broward County hasn’t always been ahead of the curve…until now. With the additions of mixology-driven watering holes like Pizza Craft and Apothecary 331, Broward is slowly taking steps. And with it’s casual-luxe decor, lively evening atmosphere, and new, extensive craft cocktail menu, Pembroke Gardens mainstay Village Tavern has just joined the ranks of must-hit Broward County drinking dens.

Something to sip

Blending Hennessy V.S. Cognac, Bacardi Ocho, and Knob Creek Bourbon, Village Tavern’s Spirited Old Fashioned lives up to its name. Think of it this way: classic Old Fashioned taste, with Blue Long Island Iced Tea strength.

Other sips

With a menu that features creative signature concoctions and classics alike, Village Tavern’s new craft cocktail menu hits all the right spots. If you’re a fan of Tiki drinks, try the Painkiller Tiki, made with Bacardi Superior Rum, Myer’s Original Dark Rum, Coco Real, mango purée, fresh pineapple juice and a splash of fresh cream. If you’re a fan of light and floral flavors, the Garden Tonic is a lovely balance of Hendrick’s Gin, St-Germain Elderflower and tonic water served with a fresh cucumber slice, lemon wheel and basil leaf. For something a bit more heady, the Tavern Sazerac combines Bulleit Rye Whiskey, Village Tavern craft syrup, Peychaud’s Bitters and Absinthe on the rocks with a lemon twist.

Something to savor

Village Tavern’s menu is as diverse as it is extensive. If you don’t know quite where to begin, go for shareables like the Thai Chicken Nachos, made with spicy chicken, Thai peanut sauce, sweet peppers, snow peas, cilantro, scallions, Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, and the Village Tavern Spring Rolls, served with Napa cabbage, garlic, soy, ginger, grilled chicken, and mixed greens tossed in Miso.
