The drink: “Piña Colada Old Fashioned” by Elad Zvi
The price: $14
The story: When we initially introduced Miami to The Broken Shaker in early 2012, we knew the city’s nascent cocktail scene would never be the same. This bar, just a pop-up at first, was poised to create a loyal following with tropical twists on classic drinks and a decidely unpretentious vibe within a boutique hostel. Now, it’s the epicenter of bohemian life on Miami Beach and it recently claimed a spot on the list of the World’s 50 Best Bars for 2014. To celebrate with creators Elad Zvi and Gabriel Orta and their acclaimed bar team, order the Piña Colada Old Fashioned featuring Atlantico Reserva, a Dominican rum rich in vanilla notes, stirred with house-made pineapple syrup and coconut bitters. Zvi suggests munching on the crispy dehydrated pineapple garnish as you reach the bottom of the glass and right before you order another round.
Where to find it: The Broken Shaker at Freehand, 2727 Indian Creek Dr., Miami Beach.
