The price: $15
The story: Miami’s Mediterranean moment has created seemingly limitless options for locals to explore authentic flavors from abroad. One of the strongest showings in this category comes from Cleo at The Redbury, where distinct North African spices are used lavishly. The cocktail menu is decidedly more straightforward, and offers elixirs like the Honey Citrus Sidecar to soothe the palate. Bartender Ryan Basilio muddles a handful of fresh mint leaves and combines bourbon, yuzu juice, simple syrup, and agave nectar before shaking and serving up in a cocktail glass with sugar on half of the rim. It’s a modern take on a classic drink that probably first appeared in European bars nearly 100 years ago. In Cleo’s version, the mint adds a refreshing layer while the elegant sweetness of the yuzu juice (fragrant Japanese citrus) plays nicely with the bourbon.
Where to find it: Cleo South Beach, The Redbury, 1776 Collins Ave., Miami Beach.
