Cameo closes its doors

Sources are telling us that Cameo, 1445 Washington Ave., was sold by The Opium Group to an undisclosed buyer this week. The theater space, built in the 1930s by Robert E. Collins, has been a popular nightclub on the notorious Washington Avenue strip for nearly a decade. The venue’s unmistakable marquee now says, “Thank you South Beach.”
