One Direction loves Florida, records concert special

Frequent visitors of Miami Beach and it’s dining and beach scene, there is no doubt that the members of super pop band One Direction enjoy their time in Florida. That was recently apparent in Orlando, when the band not only did a private performance for the Today Show from Universal Studios, they also taped a concert special for 2,000 1D fans (and 350 contest winners) who scored access to the secret show in early November.

The weather was unseasonably cold (perfect for a Christmas broadcast) and our spies reported back that the gents from across the pond were apologetic for any delays, commercial pauses, and even the cold weather. “Harry (Styles) kept asking us if we were cold, what the temperature was and he would check on people,” our spy said.

Regardless, it was a show worth attending, our spies said, with performances of hits like “Steal My Girl”, “Night Changes”, “Girl Almighty” and “What Makes You Beautiful”.

Fans were in line for the show beginning at 9 a.m. and entered the performance area at 6:30 p.m. The setting was intimate, with fans pressed close to the stage in the standing room only event.

During the four-hour taping for the one-hour show, “Harry told dumb jokes between songs and the guys pointed out people’s hats and clothes that they liked,” our spy said. “It felt like we were all just hanging out and they happened to be recording a concert special. It was like we were all just friends.”

Catch the entire One Direction Concert Special on Tuesday, Dec. 23 on NBC starting at 8 p.m.
