Though the stars of Robot & Frank won’t be in South Florida, there will be a red carpet premiere Aug 31 at the Coral Gables Art Cinema. The film is a unique hybrid, melding imaginative science fiction with a classic story of a thieving senior citizen and his accomplice, a robot. Starring the great Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon, The Ninth Gate) and Oscar-winner Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise, Dead Man Walking), Robot & Frank is set in the near future. The film is a unique hybrid, melding imaginative science fiction with a classic story of a curmudgeonly old coot, in a surprising take on technology’s promises and pitfalls. Robot & Frank won the Alfred P. Sloan prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. There will be a 9 pm reception and screenings at 7:00 and 10:00 pm that evening, which includes a Q&A with the films Academy Award-winning producer. Tickets for regular screenings are $11 and under.
