Miami artist Becky Rosa unveils massive public art installation at Wynwood gallery

One of the benefits of the behemoth that is Art Basel is that the legion satellite events going on during that week in early December often lead to serious opportunities for local up-and-coming artists. Case in point, Miami-based artist Becky Rosa, who was the People’s Choice winner and Top 3 Winner of the 6th Annual Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series competition during Art Basel Miami last December.

Thanks to her win, Becky Rosa was chosen to create a massive public mural installation, which will debut at Gallery 212 in Wynwood this Thursday, June 9.

The Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series was launched in 2010 by Russell and Danny Simmons’ RUSH Philanthropic Arts Foundation and Bombay Sapphire Gin as a platform for undiscovered visual arts talent from diverse backgrounds. The top three winners partner with local arts organizations to develop and create a public installation for their respective communities.

Becky Rosa will unveil her mural, which was based on her sculpture “Birkream.” The evening celebration will be followed by a Bombay Sapphire Cocktail Party directly following the unveiling at Cafeina.
