Mayor Tomás Regalado presented Dancing With the Stars’ Maksim Chmerkovskiy the key the city Thursday as part of “One Week, One Cause” a week-long charity event taking place Dec. 3-6 benefiting Alfalit International’s fight to end illiteracy around the world. Also there: event chairperson, Venue Magazine editor and former Real Housewives of Miami cast member Alexia Echevarria and Alfalit president Joe Milton. Chmerkovskiy, along with his brother Valentin, partnered with Alfalit to host “SWAY: A Dance Trilogy” in December at the Olympia Theater where Olympic gold medalist Meryl Davis and other special guests “will present the glamor and passion of ballroom and Latin dancing in a whole new way.” In addition to the five shows in December, there will be a fund-raising gala, golf tournament and an educational dance camp, where fans will be able to take dance sessions from Maks, Val and other SWAY dancers.
