La La Anthony in Miami trying out cocktails

Reality star La La Anthony presided over the World Class Bartender of the Year awards held at Ice Palace Studios in the Design District Thursday night. Translation: She was able to drink on the job.

“I’m so excited to try a little bit of what everyone has to offer,” said NBA star Carmelo Anthony’s wife backstage before the ceremony. “This is international — so we’ll be seeing cocktails from so many countries and that’s exciting.” After her duties were over, the star of “La La’s Full Court Life” star said she was going to stay in the Magic City for a few extra days for some R&R.

Anthony’s been busy working on co-producing a new VH1 show called “Goal Diggers” with a special cameo by DJ Khaled.

“Wow, I love Miami so much,” she said. “It’s definitely one of my favorite cities so will be looking forward to some down time.” T

he Diageo-sponsored event was part of a weeklong competition in which 56 of the world’s top bartenders mixed things up (literally) in a series of challenges.

Roughly 1,000 individuals from all over the globe entered. Large buffet tables were set up throughout the vast space serving cuisine from such countries as Mexico, Cuba and Japan. Ultimately, the winner turned out to be from wine country, of all places — France. Jennifer Le Nechet, who works at Café Moderne in Paris, took home the prize. She’ll travel around the world for a year as a Diageo Reserve Brand Ambassador, judging competitions and making bespoke drinks in faraway locations.

“I’m completely blown away; it’s such an honor, especially when competing against such talent from around the world,” said Le Nechet, who is known for her cool tweaking of classic cocktails with homemade emulsions, carbonated beverages and organic ingredients.

“I’m inspired to continue pushing the boundaries of flavors and to explore how all the senses can be engaged through cocktails.”

Anthony was duly impressed. “When I heard there was a woman finalist who was competing, I thought, ‘This is awesome,’” she said. “I was definitely rooting for her to win.” More info: www.theworldclassclub.com
