Jon Lovitz checks out the scene at The Diplomat before his show

Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Jon Lovitz indulged in some seriously sumptuous cuisine Friday night at The Diplomat Beach Resort‘s Monkitail restaurant in Hollywood.

The former Saturday Night Live comedian — known as the pathological liar Tommy Flanagan and Master Thespian on the NBC sketch comedy from 1985 to 1990 –checked out the modern Japanese bites by chef Michael Schulson. The sometime singer also checked out Monkitail’s Nokku cocktail lounge tucked away in the back (complete with four private karaoke rooms).

Spies say he wanted privacy, which isn’t hard to achieve at the darkly lit, sexy space. The upscale eatery serves Izakaya (a Japanese term which means a type of gastropub) style plates, meant for sharing.

It was unclear with whom Lovitz shared said eats.

But when he was later spotted walking around the lobby, Lovitz was solo, carrying a small plastic bag from the hotel’s gift shop.

He was friendly and posed willingly for photos with fans.

When asked what he thought about SNL producer Lindsay Shookus’ affair with Ben Affleck, Lovitz pleaded the fifth.

“Who?”

Or maybe he doesn’t read the tabloids. That’s OK, the 59 year old comic needs to focus on his standup act. Lovitz performs Saturday night at 8 p.m. at STAGE 954 at the Casino at Dania Beach.
