Fidel Castro is dead. Miami’s Cuban exiles celebrate.

The holiday that Cuban exiles in Miami have waited decades to celebrate has finally come; the announcement of the death of former Cuban president Fidel Castro came late Friday night and Miami has literally gone berserk. The pots and pans are out in full force, a tradition usually reserved for celebrating Miami Heat wins, and people flooded the streets in front of Versailles cafe, La Carreta on Bird Road, parts of Hialeah.

Take a look at the crowds outside La Carreta (8650 Bird Rd.).

Also, folks in Hialeah are going bananas.

And, of course, the celebration is going strong outside of Cafe Versailles on Eighth Street.
