50 Cent celebrated his 40th birthday with a Muscle & Fitness magazine cover, a string of Miami shows and a lot of Effen Vodka. On his actual birthday Monday, fans lined up outside of the soon-to-open 9beach Fusion Kitchen & Lounge Bar on Collins Avenue, where he was doing an Effen bottle signing. The star, sporting a Chicago Bulls baseball cap and red ensemble, did a meet-and-greet with fans and posed for photos.
But on Friday, he got some bad news. That’s when a Manhattan jury ordered the rapper to pay $5 million to a Pembroke Pines woman in an invasion of privacy lawsuit, The New York Daily News reports. Lastonia Leviston alleged that 50, aka Curtis Jackson, acquired a sex tape she made with her boyfriend in 2008, and added an X rated voiceover then posted it online the following year.
The lawsuit claims that in the video, Jackson, appearing disguises as a narrator, Pimpin’ Curly, made vulgar remarks about Leviston as well as local rapper Rick Ross, who has a daughter with Leviston.
50 Cent’s lawyer says the “In Da Club” singer didn’t actually do the posting and it was all a joke.
The jury will continue deliberating this week on possibly more punitive damages.
