While New York and Europe bid good bye to their respective Fashion Weeks, Miami is gearing up more than 100 future fashion designers from Miami International University of Art & Design will present their collections in the University’s Annual Student Fashion Show, Style 2013, as part of Funkshion Fashion Week Miami Beach.
The fun commences Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 12 noon, at the Collins Park Fashion Tent on 21st Street and Collins Avenue. To score seats to the show, advanced ticket purchase is required by calling (305) 428-5960 (FYI — tickets will not be sold at the event).
Each year, Miami International University of Art & Design’s Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design students put all their hard work and original design ideas into creating unique pieces for the University’s Annual Student Fashion Show hoping to be recognized by the fashion industry experts who will serve as judges. As the Fashion students let their creativity, talent and skill speak for itself on the runway, Associate of Arts in Accessory Design students will welcome guests into the tent with their own collection – an accessory design exhibit featuring leather boots and shoes, handmade bags and jewelry, while students in the Bachelor and Associate of Arts in Fashion Merchandising programs will showcase their talents with a floral display exhibit. Fashion Design winners will be selected by the judges for their collections in various categories, including collection, editorial, evening, style, trend, sportswear, avant garde, ready to wear, cocktail and menswear.
“For our fashion department, it is a distinct honor to showcase our students’ talents at Funkshion Fashion Week Miami Beach. Our students and faculty have worked hard in preparing an unforgettable show,” says Charlene Parsons, academic director of Fashion programs at Miami International University of Art & Design.
