The Raleigh (1775 Collins Ave., South Beach; 305-534-6300) is officially the first hotel pool to throw in the towel this summer and open up its pool to locals and non-hotel guests. Miami Beach may have celebrated a big birthday this year with its centennial, but it’s also the Raleigh’s 75th year as a South Beach icon. Make plans to tan yourself by the same swimming pool Esther Williams made famous and that Life magazine called “the most beautiful pool in America” in 1947.
Still a stunner today, weekday pool passes (Monday through Thursday) will cost you $25, while on weekends (Friday through Sunday) the price doubles to $50 per person. Feeling peckish? Fuel up on fresh fare and cocktails from poolside Restaurant Michael Schwartz and extend your hours in the sun.
With rumors that the hotel’s new owner, Tommy Hilfiger, wants to turn the Raleigh into a private club, this is an awfully inclusive move that we hope he sticks to.
The offer is valid now through September based on availability. For more information, visit raleighhotel.com or call 305-534-6300.
