Spanish hotel group Meliá makes its U.S. debut in Miami with the opening of ME Miami (1100 Biscayne Blvd., Downtown; 786-577-9700) inside a downtown high-rise formerly occupied by Casa Moderna hotel and sharing the 129-story tower with Marquis condominiums.

ME, Meliá’s luxury lifestyle brand, currently operates eight hotels in cosmopolitan and beachside destinations including Ibiza, London, Mallorca, Madrid and Cabo San Lucas.

The Miami edition features 129 spacious guest rooms with a variety of suite configurations outfitted in shades of cream, gold and natural oak wood in a contemporary design scheme. Many boast oversized marble bathrooms with soaking tubs and rainfall showers, as well as large, private balconies.

On the 14th floor, guests can enjoy a rooftop swimming pool and bar, as well as spa and fitness center.

STK, the upscale, contemporary steakhouse by New York-based The ONE Group, is found on the hotel’s ground floor. Like its sister restaurant in South Beach, ME’s STK has a similarly clubby vibe and a more industrial aesthetic with dark slate exposed concrete walls offset by neon pink flamingos and subtropical motifs. Everything from their signature Lil BRGs to beats by a live DJ are on the menu.

The hotel’s third floor Aura Lounge (pictured at top) serves as both bar and public space to relax and enjoy the views of the Peréz Art Museum Miami and Biscayne Bay. Large scale photography by Alberto Von Stokkum is found throughout.

Current rates from $188 per night.
