FEBRUARY 2011 HIGHLIGHTS

Miami International Boat Show and Strictly Sail
When: Feb. 17-21, 2011
Where: Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach
Details: The event brings together over 1,000 of the newest boats and yachts from more than 2,000 exhibitors. There are also two in-water displays at local marinas, with plenty of high-end, luxury vessels.

Coconut Grove Arts Festival
When: Feb. 19-21, 2011
Where: In Coconut Grove, along the streets of McFarlane Road, South Bayshore Drive and Pan American Drive.
Details: Celebrating its 48th anniversary in 2011, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival showcases the works of over 360 of the finest artists and craftsmen in the world and offers visitors the opportunity to meet with exhibiting artists, sample fine cuisine, and enjoy live entertainment. MOCA’s Surf's Up Bash
When: Feb. 19, 2011
Where: Museum of Contemporary Art, 770 NE 125th Street, N. Miami,
Details: The annual museum fundraiser attracts over 800 attendees and raises over $250,000. This year the cocktail and dance party celebrates the thrill of surfing.  Guests will enjoy live entertainment, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and dancing in imaginative settings designed by Miami artists which evoke surf culture from South Florida to the South Pacific. Colorful surfboards suspended from the ceiling, undulating fabrics evoking ocean waves, lifeguard stands, and bonfires will capture the essence of beach life. Skateboarders and classic surf films will showcase the athletics of the sport. And beach bunnies will inspire partygoers while guest DJs keep the dance floor packed.  Suggested attire is Beach Chic. Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival
When: Feb. 23-27, 2011
Where: Tents located throughout Miami Beach and the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach
Details: The four-day feat celebrates its 10th year of more than 40 food and wine events at various locations, including tents on the sands of Miami Beach. The festival benefits the Florida International University’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and attracts top chefs and winemakers from all across the country and the Food Network. MARCH 2011 HIGHLIGHTS

Miami Beach International Fashion Week
When: March 3-6, 2011
Where: Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach.
Details: Founded by Sobol Fashion Productions Inc., the largest International and Hispanic fashion event in the U.S. features more than 10,000 buyers, designers and media. After years in the midtown district, the show moves to the Miami Beach Convention Center. Miami International Film Festival
When: March 4-13, 2011
Where: Various theatre’s throughout Miami
Details: The festival is the premier Ibero-American film festival in the U.S. The annual event, which is produced and presented by Miami Dade College, attracts more than 70,000 film enthusiasts and 400 filmmakers, stars and industry professionals. During the past five years, the festival has screened films from 60 countries and hosted 300 East Coast, U.S. and world premieres. Through Encuentros, the festival’s mentorship and film development program for filmmakers and projects from Spain, Portugal and Latin America, MIFF has become a primary gateway for the discovery of Ibero-American talent in the entertainment world. The 28th edition runs at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, Regal South Beach Cinemas, Miami Dade College’s Tower Theater and other venues. South Beach Comedy Festival
When: March 2-5, 2011

Details: Now in its sixth year, the South Beach Comedy Festival has partnered with Live Nation and Comedy Central to add more featured performances. The headliners include Doug Benson, Adam Carolla, Kevin Hart, Gabriel Iglesias and Wanda Sykes. And the Free Live Comedy Stage on Lincoln Road returns. Carnaval on the Mile
When: March 4 - 6, 2011
Where: Ponce Circle Park and Miracle Mile, Coral Gables
Details: This event is a fusion of jazz, art and cuisine with a Hispanic flare. Friday there is a kickoff concert at Ponce Circle Park and Saturday and Sunday along Miracle Mile features more Latin jazz and funk with groups from New Orleans, New York and San Francisco as well as Miami. World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship
When: March 7 - 13, 2011
Where: TPC Blue Monster, Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Doral
Details: The four-day tournament is one of four World Golf Championship-sanctioned events and is organized by the International Federation of the Professional Golf Association Tour. Ernie Els won the 2010 event, and Phil Mickelson won the year before that. The purse is $8.5 million, with $1.53 million to the winner. Winter Music Conference
When: March 8-12, 2011

Calle Ocho
When: March 13, 2011
Where: At SW 8th Street between
Details: From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.., experience the largest street party in Miami. Started in 1978 as an opportunity to share the Cuban culture, the free event has turned into a Pan-American showcase. Expect blocks and blocks of ethnic food vendors, top Latin musical performances at various stages (including Pitbull and B.o.B), plenty of shopping kiosks and children’s activities. Sony Ericsson Open

Funkshion Fashion Week Miami Beach

Ultra Music Festival

Deering Estate Seafood Festival
When: March 27, 2011
Where: Deering Estate at Cutler, 16701 SW 72 Ave., Miami
Details: A day of cooking demonstrations, live Caribbean entertainment, and fresh seafood takes place during the final Sunday of March.
