Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar brings tacos, guacamole & highbrow Mexican eats to South Beach

Bring on the margaritas! Lolita Cocina & Taco Bar brings tacos, tequila and a "burlesque inspired Mexican dining experience" to South Beach beginning Friday, Jan 13. The CB5 Restaurant Group promises an "R-rated experience" and the "street food of Mexico using the highest quality local farms and growers."

Look for 250 seats, red velvet walls, glass chandeliers, vintage rock and a tequila cage housing over 120 varieties. Menu highlights include a complimentary tequila-spiked fresh mint grapefruit granita, tres ceviches (pictured), chili-rubbed short rib nachos, lobster enchiladas, shrimp ajillo and garlic lime chicken.

Eater notes Lolita will be taking over the former Nemo space with waiters dressed in "sexy attire" and plans to cater to diners who want to "harken back to their days as college bad boys." Urban Daddy calls Lolita a "house of sin and tacos in SoFi" and the kind of taco joint Gary Oldman’s Dracula would open if he had a passion for fresh-pounded guacamole and agave-enhanced cocktails. The New Times adds that Lolita's Boston, MA and Greenwich, CT locations have earned reputations for "good tacos and an extensive inventory of tequilas."
