Originating in South Beach, Lime Fresh is now a franchise, and the food’s Tex-Mex rather than authentically Mexican. But Taco Bell it ain’t; the concept isn’t fast food but fast-casual. That means ingredients -- from the salsas made fresh daily to the fish and veg fillings in the mahi-mahi tacos -- are fresh, never frozen. Ambience is also a big step up. While ordering is counter-style, the feel’s more hangout-friendly than eat-and-run, and there are many Mexican beers on ice to facilitate the chilling.
