Lenny Kravitz wraps up tour in Miami Beach on Feb. 25

Be honest: Twenty or so years ago when you first heard the name Lenny Kravitz, you thought, "Oh, another self-deprecating Jewish comedian from New York." But as soon as this funk-rock soul man laid "Let Love Rule" on us, we knew he was a special talent, one who transcended "black" or "white" music. Equal parts John Lennon and Sly Stone, Kravitz turned the rock world upside down - and won multiple Grammys - with his hits "It Ain't Over 'til It's Over," "Stand By My Woman," "Always on the Run" (with guitarist Slash), "Are You Gonna Go My Way," "Can't Get You Off My Mind," "Dig In," "Again," "Fly Away" and his cover of The Guess Who's anthem "American Woman."
 
And now Kravitz is touring America for the first time in five years in support of his new album, "Black and White America," featuring the single "Push." The short tour, with opening act Raphael Saadiq (a member of the old-school R&B act Tony! Toni! Tone!), begins Jan. 28 at New York's Radio City Music Hall and wraps up right here in the Magic City at the Fillmore Miami Beach on Feb. 25. Fun fact: Kravitz's mother, Roxie Roker, played Helen Willis on the classic TV series "The Jeffersons."
Fun fact No. 2: Kravitz was married to "The Cosby Show" star Lisa Bonet from 1987-'93, and they had a daughter together, for whom he wrote the song "Flowers for Zoe."
