The Limited is getting a dose of whimsy thanks to designer Jodi Arnold.
Say bye-bye to dull and dreary work clothes. Your office wardrobe is getting a dose of whimsy thanks to New York-based designer Jodi Arnold (of MINT acclaim). She’s teaming up with The Limited for her second exclusive collaboration and will be unveiling her Fall 2010 collection at The Limited store at Dadeland Mall on Tuesday, August 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The personal appearance event kicks off Arnold’s six-city tour and will feature an exclusive fashion show followed by a Q&A session where those in attendance will be shown how to style the collection for themselves. Expect detail-oriented dresses ($98 to $128), tops ($49.50 to $79.50) and skirts and leggings ($49.50 to $79.50).
We chatted up Arnold and discovered how the Birmingham, Alabama native blossomed into Big Apple designer.
Describe your childhood in one word: Normal.
How did you realize you wanted to be a designer? Seeing my mom make clothes for my sister and me.
Before creating the label MINT in ‘99, what did you do to pay the bills? I worked at local boutiques in Birmingham.
Describe your design aesthetic: It is print and embellishment driven, effortless, thoughtful design with a twist.
Why did you decide to team up with The Limited? I grew up shopping at The Limited so when they called me about a year ago, I was excited to hear about the many changes going on with their brand. Their brand message ‘Her Personal Success’ really inspired me.
What's the biggest fashion faux pas? Trying too hard.
What do you always do before leaving home? I kiss my two cocker spaniels, Wini and Rudy.
What do you adore most about Miami? I really enjoy the flea market and thrift store finds I got the last time I was there.
Where would you live if you weren't in New York? On an island somewhere.
How do you de-stress after a long day? A yoga class.
