Jerry's, a cavernous 24-hour deli at the corner of Collins Avenue and Espanola Way, features a 700-item menu tall enough to hide behind -- great for late-hour kissy-face sessions. Offerings include everything from knishes, nova and pastrami to rigatoni, carne asada and barbecued ribs. Matzo balls are the size of softballs, and sandwiches come regular or triple decker.
Eat your heart out, New York. We not only have the world champion Marlins; apparently we've got you beat on the late-night dining front.
The New York Times recently lamented that the city that never sleeps has ''surprisingly few'' restaurants serving dinner after 11 p.m. Miami, meanwhile, boasts plenty of all-night diners, delis and cafes.
The big daddy of them all is Jerry's Famous Deli, which does everything but spoon-feed its customers. It's a deli, bar, bakery, carry-out, pizza and pasta parlor, restaurant and sports bar with valet parking, al fresco dining and delivery to home, office or boat.
Jerry's also delivers in terms of tasty food, dashing Deco decor and efficient service. And each of the 300-plus menu items is available any time of the day or night.
• Hits: My dining companion, a New Mexico native, ordered the Mex-burger, and was thrilled to find the patty topped with a big slice of green chile rarely found outside his home state. Likewise, spicy beef goulash tastes of top-grade paprika and would pass muster in Budapest. Steaks and prime rib are reliably good, and turkey is roasted to juicy perfection.
• Misses: Macaroni and cheese swims in a thin, white sauce, and while mounds of perfectly cooked broccoli grace many platters, the runny mashed potatoes have a tinny, steam-table aftertaste.
• Bottom line: You have to love a place that makes lox pizza and will mix a Shirley Temple for the kids. Many sandwiches, main dishes and pizzas are a few bucks higher than at a neighborhood eatery, but portions are gigantic, the food is fresh and carefully prepared, and you can satisfy just about any yen from a corn dog to a $275 bottle of Cristal.

Waste of money. You pay $20 for a sandwich worth $5 at best. Waitresses were horrible as well. Highly advise going elsewhere unless you don't mind paying for the name...
