Bite into a taste of Hong Kong as Lantao brings Asian eats to South Beach's recently remodeled Surfcomber Hotel. Urban Daddy bills Lantao as a "South Beach supper club brimming with Asian street food and lychee martinis" while the New Times calls it a "new Asian restaurant on South Beach that you don't know about yet."
Executive chef Ferdinand Ortiz Jr (The Clevelander, China Grill, Asia de Cuba) dishes out a menu divided into snack, salad, noodle bowl and main plate sections with signature dishes like banh mi “Miami” style (beef, pork belly, pickled vegetables, cilantro and spicy mayo on a baguette), green papaya & pork belly salad, Madurese street noodles and Singapore chili prawns. The New Times calls the blue crab spring roll "cleanly, crisply fried" and the BBQ ribs (pictured) "big, meaty" and the "best bang for the buck on the menu."
Eater notes that a sister Lantao Social Club (i.e. bar) is opening within the hotel at the end of the month - saddle into the bar and sip a Tru Balance (Tru Vodka, Kambucha and Lambic Framboise) or a Flying Dutch Boat (Hendricks Gin, Cardamom Vermouth and Orange Bitters).
