Happy Hour: Solé on the Beach
By Adam Beasley
The Vibe: Tom Feeley’s four-year dream of a beachfront hotel/condo high-rise will be realized when Solé finally opens this fall. But for those wanting a sneak peak at the slick complex, or just want to relax oceanside in North Dade with a frozen cocktail, this is the spot. Solé claims to have the closest bar to the shoreline in Sunny Isles, and it’s tough to argue with them. But the real draw is the pool deck, which is designed to look like a yacht. When the breeze whips in off the Atlantic, it feels like you’re on the water, too.
Prices/Deals: You’ll never have to guess the cost of a mixed drink. Pretty much everything on the menu will run you a Hamilton, plus tax and tip. Menu highlights include the Caribbean Punch (Razz, Coco, Bacardi O and juices) and the South Beach Lemonade (Three Olives Orange and Raspberry, sour mix, lemonade and grenadine). Fridays are 2-for-1. Or, you can buy a bucket of beers for – gulp – $30. Hungry? Epicure Markets will deliver. Downside: Valet parking is $10.
The Scene: Friday nights, low-key happy hour. Saturdays and Sundays, pool party on the deck. That’s Feeley’s vision, at least. Since Solé’s bar opened recently, it’s tough to get a gauge of clientele, but management hopes to fill a gaping nightlife void in the Aventura area. DJ Baby Dre spins, cabanas are available on the beach and tiki torches light your way to the bar.
Solé on the Beach, 17315 Collins Ave., Sunny Isles Beach; 305-935-4777
Hours: Fridays 4 - 7 p.m.; Saturdays/Sundays: Noon – 6 p.m.
