Getting Spicy

Feast on our picks for Miami Spice 2011

miami spice

August is days away, which means we're minutes from the 10th annual Miami Spice smorgasbord. Two months of $22 three-course lunches and $35 three-course dinners. There are over 130 restaurants throughout Miami, Miami Beach, Midtown & the northern beaches participating this year - hundreds of excuses to eat, drink & be merry for less. Today we're dishing up some of our favorites, but first a few quick tips...

Do your homework. Offerings and availability vary by restaurant - make sure to check availability online
Menu scan. Most restaurants display their Spice menus online -it's worth scanning in advance. If the choices don't appeal to you, skip the restaurant
Reserve now. Weekend dinner reservations go quickly
Linger over lunch. At $22, lunch is a particularly great (and often overlooked) Spice option
Stuff your wallet. Spice bills inevitably ring in over $22 or $35. Make sure to factor in tax, tip and the cost of any beverages or additional menu items

Get Meaty

Indulge your favorite carnivore...

BLT Steak at the Betsy. Great food (don't skip the popovers), friendly service & prime Ocean Drive views (if you can stand the heat)
Bourbon Steak. Michael Mina's reason to visit Aventura (dinner only)

Fogo de Chao. Gluttony (and a food coma) await at this Brazilian outpost (dinner only)
