Celebrities are used to getting free stuff, but when it comes to Gerard Butler, seen at various Art Basel exhibitions, all he wanted were Pop Chips. A source tells us that, after refusing free clothing and jewelry, all Butler wanted was the snacks delivered to his Miami hotel room. Same for Adrien Brody. $30 million Rothko or free Pop Chips? A no-brainer.
Seen taking a break from the Basel battiness Friday at Solea at the W South Beach: Susan Sarandon. The actress was then spied the following night at the Delano for The Art of Ping Pong, co-presented by the actress' ping-pong club, SPiN Galactic. Though she was seen playing the sport earlier that day, Sarandon observed the action from a cabana where she was seen hanging with 30-something beau/biz partner Jonathan Bricklin.
Big bold-facers Thursday night at the W South Beach, starting with an after-party-slash-tribute to the new Andy Warhol Dom Perignon bottles at Wall cohosted by Julian Schnabel's son Vito: HRH Princess Firyal of Jordan, Nicky Hilton, Sean Penn and Calvin Klein.
Oscar winner Tilda Swinton was seen getting her boogie on Friday and Saturday nights at Rok Bar. Beastie Boy Mike D., party of seven, was seen dining Saturday night at STK. Final bill? $12,000. REM's Michael Stipe was seen Friday night at The Standard Spa for a screening of video artist Marco Brambilla's Evolution (Megaplex).
Just before the anniversary of his father's death, Julian Lennon stopped by Art Miami to marvel at a portrait of his late dad -- composed of minuscule visages of Elvis -- by artist Alex Guofeng Cao. Also seen gawking at the artist's work: Barry Manilow, whose portrait, may we suggest, should be composed of miniature visages of Michael Bolton. Just kidding. We meant visages of Bette Midler.
Elsewhere: Author/preacher Joel Osteen and his wife had dinner Thursday at Morton's on Brickell.
Spending a little solo R&R at Little Palm Island: Christian Slater, who was at the secluded, hyperluxe island resort for the past week. Says our spy, ``He's super friendly and happy and even sent chocolate and flowers to everyone on staff he's interacted with.''
