Gabriel & Dresden
By Jay Rooney
Josh Gabriel and David Dresden, better known by their stage name Gabriel & Dresden, are a San Francisco-based trance duo famous for their remixes and recent self-titled album. They’ll be spinning during the Conference on Sunday at The National Hotel's pool party (1677 Collins Ave., 2-9 p.m.)
When did you start working with David Dresden?
Gabriel: We met at WMC 2001. I was giving away my new track and Dave was working for Pete Tong. He liked the track, put it on his radio station, gave me the opportunity to remix “New Order” and we never stopped making music.
Who are your influences?
Dave and I share the same influences – new wave.
What’s your take on WMC?
I started going to WMC in ‘95. The conference has changed, but it’s still good. There’s something about having everything at the same place at the same time.
What are some of your favorite spots in Miami?
Miami feels like L.A. – it’s a place where people go to live fast, to have excess, which is perfect for WMC. I just kind of wish people would chill out and settle down a bit at times.
