The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale's Fashion Design School will kick off their Culinary Couture runway show at 8:30 p.m. on Las Olas Blvd and 9th avenue this Friday in conjunction with Las Olas Wine & Food Festival. The school’s honors class will be showcasing their food inspired creations. We chatted up student Daniela Neira on her participation with the event.
Creating your design must’ve taken some time, what type of hours and work did you put into it? Designs take from 1 week to 9 weeks depending on how complex the design is.
When it comes to fashion, why do you feel it's important to be a part of an event like this? As a student, you are not yet known. Exposure and experience are the best ways to polish yourself.
As for designer role models, who do you look about to and why? Alexander McQueen. He was an artist and a designer. He continues to be very inspirational.
Attendees that come out to the event, can expect to see? They can see some of the top designers from the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. After attendees preview the designs, they will definitely be inspired to enjoy the wine and food served at the event.
What are your future goals? To be successful in the designing industry.
