The goods: Doré is a glam spot for tapas and cocktails at the Ritz-Carlton South Beach.
Ambience: The cavernous space retains its plush charm with a glossy “Rotunda” lounge, velvet chairs, a 90-seat dining room, wavy gold walls and sea-anemone lights.
The grub: Spanish tapas and European classics from executive chef Jeff Pfeiffer (La Goulue). Prices are in keeping with the cushy setting: Tapas $6-$11, appetizers $12-$24 and mains $22-$55.
Toasted baguette and black olive tapenade precede tapas and small plates like goat cheese croquettes, house-cured duck bresola, roasted bone, tuna crudo and seared foie gras. Pastas and mains include pappardelle with shredded duck confit, sea bass with sushi rice and flat-iron steak with gnocchi.
Sweet endings include ganache-covered “opera” cake and poached pear with dark chocolate sauce and candied almonds.
Verdict: A second swanky spot at the plush Ritz-Carlton South Beach.
