Dave Navarro: tailgate man

Dave Navarro likes to keep moving and switch things up.

The guitarist from such bands as Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nine Inch Nails will be a guest performer with the all- girl quartet Darling Stilettos, who will perform at the tailgate concert at the Dolphins vs. Steelers game Sunday.

Navarro, 43, will join good friend and Camp Freddy bandmate, drummer Matt Sorum, who used to bang it out with Guns 'N Roses and Velvet Revolver.

The old buddies are backing up the gritty L.A. group, which is known for its often risque  burlesque moves. On the set list are tracks like One Way or Another, Dancing With Myself and Blitzkreig Bop.

"We're not reinventing the wheel … it's just gonna be a good time,'' Navarro promises. "I'm happy to be there and play for a different type of crowd.''

Navarro isn't exactly a sports fan and doesn't really know much about football. He's game, nonetheless.

"I'm a watcher, not a doer,'' admits the California native. "But I'd play anywhere, from a hole in the wall to a sports arena. All that matters is the audience.''

Sometimes he prefers being a guest of a band, rather than an actual member. "I wouldn't say it takes the heat off … if there was heat in this job, I wouldn't do it … but it's fun in that I do get to step into a completely finished show.''

Navarro, who used to be married to Carmen Electra, as documented in their 2004 MTV reality show 'Til Death Do Us Part, is all about music these days. But don't look for him to settle down with one woman … or one band.

"My tastes are eclectic,'' he says. "The human condition is such that it's hard to gravitate toward one genre. Every morning I feel different.''
