The goods: Restaurateur Amir Ben-Zion (Gigi) brings Cooper Avenue, a sprawling market, bakery, coffee shop and bar, to South Beach’s New World Center.
Ambience: The cavernous, industrial space boasts polished concrete floors, a clamorous open kitchen, floor-to-ceiling windows, a blond wood bar, patio and private dining room.
The grub: Robust American. Prices are reasonable: starters $10-$16, mains $18-$42 and sides $8. Sandwiches, salads and pasta compose the lunch menu, while dinner gets heartier with 10 cuts of steak, taleggio meatballs, chunky lobster salad, house-made pappardelle pasta with Manchego-covered braised lamb, short ribs and a raw bar with oysters, blood orange-drenched scallops and crudos. Desserts include beignets, chocolate and hazelnut mousse and apple tartin.
Verdict: Cooper Avenue is a South Beach food fetishist’s paradise.
