A conversation with supermodel Carol Alt
She is subject of documentary at MIFF
2/21/2012
Got supermodels? On Wednesday, March 7, MIFF (that's the Miami International Film Festival) is premiering the film and hosting a conversation with director/Miami Beach native Timothy Greenfield-Sanders and one of the original 80s supermodels Carol Alt, who is featured in the documentary.
Greenfield-Sanders has a celebrated career as a portrait photographer and documentary maker. His subjects range from rock n roll and pornography to African-American and Latino identity. Now he takes on the themes of beauty and aging by interviewing some of the most famous female models from the past five decades. Known for their beautiful bodies, they also prove to have lively minds.
The ladies get candid and reflective when spanning the topics of plastic surgery, drugs, personal history and more. Among the memorable testimonies are Paulina Porizkova on her youthful insecurities; Jerry Hall on escaping Texas for France; Beverly Johnson on being Vogue's first African-American cover in 1974; and Alt on posing for Playboy at age 47. The line-up of talent also includes China Machado, Isabella Rossellini, Christie Brinkley, and Christy Turlington.
