Clink: The Food Gang Brunch Cocktails
By Aurora Rodriguez
The Food Gang is set in Surfside, just a few blocks from Bal Harbour Shops, so it's only natural that the French-inspired bistro attracts a mix of older patrons and young professionals for its Sunday Brunch with the Gang. Bartender-waiter Jonathan Raffaele knows just what to pour. The Mr. and Mrs. Smith "is a simple, romantic champagne drink," Raffaele says. "It's also perfect for sharing." Solo diners can kick back with a rum-based Cool & The Gang.
D.I.Y.
The restaurant serves the Mr. and Mrs. Smith in a kinky duo champagne holder from Moet & Chandon, but two simple flutes are fine at home:
Glass 1: Fill with champagne and a splash of orange juice. Drop in a few fresh raspberries and garnish with an orange wedge.
Glass 2: Fill with champagne and a splash of Chambord (black raspberry liquor). Add fresh orange bites and a strawberry.
Cool & The Gang: Combine 2 ounces pineapple rum (Parrot Bay preferred) and splashes of orange juice, pineapple juice and grenadine in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a fresh pineapple or orange wedge and cherry.
F.Y.I.
The Mr. and Mrs. Smith is $12 and Cool & The Gang $8 at The Food Gang, 9472 Harding Ave., Surfside; 786-228-9292
