Circ X troupe to take on Scarlett's Cabaret
Toss your hat in the ring: Circ X is taking the stage at the Scarlett's Cabaret 2010 calendar release party.
There will be clowns at the cabaret, but don't expect dancers in big red noses.
Performance troupe Circ X is bringing its eccentric brand of entertainment to Scarlett's Cabaret to liven up the club's annual calendar release party. Expect hilarity with a slightly x-rated vibe, out-of-this-world costumes, and a chance that anyone in the audience could become part of the show.
Described as "one part circus, two parts burlesque, a pinch of class and a dash of trash" by founder Diana Lozano, the Miami-based group has graced magazine covers in otherworldly garb and turned many a droll corporate event into a raucous affair. This is the first time they have been contracted to work at a gentleman's club.
"Scarlett's contacted me a few months ago looking to revamp their entertainment," Lozano said. "We're not the type of performance people are used to seeing there, but we're definitely provocative."
This particular show will incorporate fire elements and Circ X's signature blend of European clowing and street theater antics. But don't expect nudity, at least not on their part.
"Sexuality is a major component to our act, but people wouldn't think of us sexually," Lozano said. "I mean, we're clowns, you know?"
Circ X will take the stage around 11 p.m. at Scarlett's Cabaret at 2920 Sw 30th Avenue in Hallandale Beach. The performance is taking place in conjunction with the club's 2010 calendar release party, which will feature open bar from noon-4pm and 8pm-1am. Calendar girls will be in attendance for autographs, ogling.
