It's the best of all worlds: the comfortable surroundings of an Irish pub with a waterfront view, outdoor dining and nightly live entertainment.

Set on the New River, it's a sister location to the original Briny Pub in Pompano Beach. (The same owner also has Dicey Riley's.) This is a great place to enjoy the view and a few drinks, with a happy hour that lasts until 9 p.m. and prices as low as $2 and $3.

Briny Riverfront's huge patio is decorated with oars, buoys and other nautical memorabilia. The theme is carried through the menu with an ample selection of seafood plus American bar food, salads and sandwiches. For the traditionalist, there are also three Irish selections.

The Guinness barbecued shrimp appetizer wrapped in apple wood bacon delivered on the unusual taste combination, but the portion of four shrimp was skimpy for $9.95. The Gorgonzola salad included a large, warm chicken breast served over very fresh greens. While tasty, the reuben sandwich didn't quite measure up to the grilled deli favorite we grew up loving.
