Arts & Drafts
We in the media often laugh when we read descriptions such as "live concert," but when it comes to "live art," there's nothing laughable, though it does depend on what kind of art, exactly, is live. The South Beach Marriott  (161 Ocean Dr., Miami Beach), will let you know when, at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 12 and the second Thursday of each month thereafter, they will throw a creative party, 'for artists, BY ARTISTS' that features, yep, live art in their Deco Blue lounge. Watch as artists such as photographer Fred Love, visual artist Rebecca Barba, painter Eva Ruiz, visual artist Jessica Loren, photographer Alissa Christine, visual artist Laelanie Larach and featured exhibitor Carlos Navarro will create in front of a live, studio audience. During that time, or from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at least, signature cocktails, draft beers and featured wines by the glass are half off. The event is free and open to the public.

Re-Red
New at Skybar at the Shore Club (1901 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) is Redroom Fridays, an end-of-week scenefest starring DJ Supersede on the turntables with a mix of electronic and "chill house beats." There will be drink specials, too. Party starts at 10 p.m. and ends at 1 a.m.

Oi!
Freedom's just another word for 'another reason to booze,' and for that you can thank Brazil, whose Independence Day will be celebrated from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, September 7 with a big pool party at SLS Hotel South Beach's Hyde Beach, (1701 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) hosted by Veuve Clicquot. There, traditional Brazilian dancers will do their thing while flutes of Veuve's Yellow Label will flow. There is no cover charge or RSVP necessary.

Serenity Now
Despite the fact that some of us, ahem, cringe at the phrase 'Sunday Funday,' we totally appreciate spending the last day of the week with reckless abandon or, if you prefer, something a bit more serene such as the Delano's new Serenity Sundays, (1685 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) an all-in-one brunch, spa, swim scene-fest that extends until the sun goes down. Sort of like a swanky Choose Your Own Adventure, you can start with brunch at Bianca where you'll get a free Bellini, or skip food and head to the Delano Beach Club for scene and spa treatments. Long story short, Sunday is your one stop for amusement and assorted diversions. A fun day indeed.

Sip 'n' Shop
Shopping while drunk is a dangerous diversion that should only be practiced by pros whose mug shots eventually appear in the supermarket tabloids. That being said, a little buzz during your shopping isn't too offensive to others or your credit card and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, September 12 at the Sunset Lounge at the Mondrian South Beach (1100 West Ave., Miami Beach) they're having a pop-up Sunset Shop with Saffron + Sommer boutique. In addition to the lounge's usual beat-the-clock cocktail menu, you'll get a trunk show from Alton Road's chichi new boutique. While the cocktails and snacks are $5 to $9 depending on the hour, the boutique will offer 10% off clothes, accessories and tchotchkes all night.
