Design junkies and shopaholics rejoice, for frame-worthy finds and trendy textiles have arrived. No need to keep your TiVo locked on Bravo to get that creative kick, as Miss C. boutique, just one block east of Miracle Mile, combines all things design with trendy fashions. The blueprint of fashion designer turned interior designer Christina Figueroa, Miss C. takes Cali-cool threads to the streets of South Florida.
An alumnus of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles (LC's alma mater on The Hills), Figueroa is no stranger to West Coast style. "I wanted the lines that do really well on the West Coast and that aren't overly saturated here in Miami," she explains. Miss C. boasts an impressive collection of well-known California brands like Fluxus, the makers of chic and comfy T-shirts; Denim of Virtue; Free People; Lauren Conrad and Chick by Nicky Hilton. Other labels include William Rast, Dolce Vita, Lucca and local shoe guru Sergio Zelcer. The inventory is constantly updated by Figueroa, who frequents trade shows to find the latest up-and-coming lines -- three-hour time difference not withstanding.
The writing's on the wall when it comes to Figueroa's designer past. A black-and-white mosaic bearing the boutique's name welcomes shoppers and designer duds hang on black satin hangers, carefully placed on customized heart shaped rods. Decked out displays of colorful bags and jewelry line glass shelves, and a show-stopping array of red roses serves as the back wall and entrance to dressing rooms. "An idea I picked up while vacationing in St. Tropez," she explains. There are even jars of candy for those in need of a sugar rush between fittings.
Clothes fiend first and designer second, Figueroa understands all about the perils of finding the perfect outfit. Thankfully, Miss C. has us all covered. "I offer my clients the flexibility to contact me on my 'fashion emergency' number in case they need to get something when the store is closed." No more hair pulling or unfortunate outfits on Saturday nights. In other words, Figeroa's got you covered - she is, after all, Miss C.
