West Coast meets East Coast with this California cool boutique.
229 8th Street, Miami Beach
The lowdown: Let’s face it; Miami often tries to keep up with our rival coast. Seemingly, L.A. gets everything first — new hot spots, celeb gossip (although we did break the news on John Mayer and Jen Aniston) and even the latest threads. That is, until now. Miami remains a true competitor thanks to LF Boutique, allowing South Florida gals to be as on top of the latest styles as Lauren Conrad.
The hood: Although sandwiched between the SoBe strips of Washington and Collins, upon entering you will immediately feel as if you’ve been transported to swanky Robertson Blvd.
The vibe: A favorite among the 90210 and Hills starlets, L.A.-based LF Boutique is a haven for the fashion-forward shopper. Trendsetters won’t know where to overt their eyes first as the store is stocked to the gills with duds, all by up and coming L.A. and European designers.
Highlights: Front and center is a table full of nothing but boyfriend-cut denim by Era of Chaos – styles include cut off shorts, skirts and of course the classic full-length jeans and range from $130 to $165. Just a few steps over is a table lined with vintage finds including garments that give a whole new use to an ex’s shirt (besides the usual dish towel). Men’s worn in, faded plaid button downs are transformed into girly tube tops that also double as light mini-skirts; additional items consist of rocker tees and woven belts. Floral dresses along with gladiator sandals and boots, femme vests and tops line the outer walls of the shop. Head towards the check out to scope out the array of accessories such as a variety of cocktail rings, hand-made beaded belts, scarves, large totes or clutches and a plethora of earrings and necklaces starting at $12 and ranging to $200.
District Manager says: “We provide a total fashion experience that goes above and beyond,” states Sara Sack. “Our stylists have a passion for fashion and will help create a cutting edge look to express your unique personality.”
We say: So now that we have the L.A. looks, all we need is a raunchy celeb blogger. Wait, Perez Hilton is a South Florida native — game, set, match, Miami!
