Boteco Brasilian Bar
The Italian owner has created a typical boteco, or casual spot for eating and drinking that captures the essence of the type found in Brazil. There’s a covered patio in front of the main bar and a big wood deck out back for al fresco dining. A mix of Brazilians and other South Americans, Americans and Europeans flock here, especially on Saturday nights when there is live music. The bar food is good for sharing with a cold beer or caipirinha. Goes well with cod fish or chicken and cheese croquettes, crescent-shaped turnovers stuffed with tiny shrimp or oozing mozzarella. From the grill comes steak, chicken, shrimp, mahi-mahi, and sausages served with yucca fries. On Saturday feijoada is served—bean and pork stew with rice, collards and farofa (seasoned yucca flour). Best dessert is passion fruit mousse.
