Beauty for the Blind

Imagine being blind and having to style your hair, apply lipstick or even paint your nails? This upcoming Monday, Miami beauty businesses are teaming up with Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired to teach cosmetology to the blind. Three local businesses Robbie Lip Gloss, Nail Bar & Beauty Lounge and Blo Blowdry Bar in Midtown will be leading the class. "We teach that remaining independent is certainly possible for anyone with vision loss and this event will reinforce Miami Lighthouse's philosophy that it's possible to see without sight. 

"One of the techniques we will be teaching Miami Lighthouse clients will be to refrigerate nail polish before use because they can sense the cold polish on their nails," said Desiree Parth, owner of Nail Bar & Beauty Lounge. The course takes place from 1 to 3 PM. at Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired. To donate: www.miamilighthouse.org
