incredible bbq offering and value. soo good!
MY OH MY...this is one of the best BBQ's I have had in a very long time. Certainly this is the best BBQ I have had in Florida - period. I consider myself a BBQ coniseur (my waistline reflects that statement) and have had great BBQ from my Undergrad days in Georgia, to Louisiana to my parents backyard up in New York. From the moment I left my car about two blocks from the restaurant, smelled the mesquite, charcoal and wonderful smell of BBQ. I went with a buddy of mine who is also a big BBQ guy. We purposely ordered differnt things to try out the Bonanza of food (as it was advetized). The ribs were absolutely tender, scrumptious, and flaked off the bone. The chicken was perfectly-crispy fried and seasoned and the meat was juicy and tender. For sides, I indulged in to-die-for Five Mac and Cheese, amazing baked beans and BBQ'd corn of the cob (note that the corn came platted with the husk peeled back and tasted as sweet as sugar...it reminded me of the times growing up in NY when we would go to the Hamptons and buy fresh corn from the local farmer during the summer...the corn I had at 660 was that good)...plus the meal came with a warm and sweet piece of cornbread. The portions are very, very generous, however I did manage to save some room for an amazingly delicious blueberry cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream. There were lots of beer and summer drink specials and of course sweet tea. I loved the entire experience..from the food, the friendly servers and staff at 660 to the cool tunes of Jimmy Buffet playing in the backround. I'm excited to come back again this week and indulge with some more of my friends. This is absolutely one of the best finds for BBQ and the Anglers Hotel and 660 Restaurant just has the certain down to earth, friendly vibe that is so rare in South Beach. Plus, the price is a terrific value....I'm getting hungry now writing this and have a hankering for some ribs tonight..hopefully someone orders the shrimp so I can taste that as well...I'll report back after I try those. ...
