Band of the Hour: Elastic Bond
Velvet vocals. Bilingual rap. This is one funky, super-tight group.

Elastic Bond, an unsigned six-piece band, brings an urban edge with a tropical Miami twist to the local music scene. With a name that gives reference to an atomic physics concept, they are able to find common ground and stick together despite a myriad of influences, all while redefining existing boundaries.
Pleasantly surprising velvety vocals combined with unexpectedly awesome and evocative bilingual rap is reminiscent of Lauren Hill meets the Roots meets Yerba Buena. On some songs, blaring trumpets transport you to a sultry street in Brooklyn rather than the sun kissed beaches of Miami. Other tracks bring you right back to town with Latin rhythms, drums and flavor. You never know where you will end up with these guys, but you are guaranteed to like it.
The raw honesty of their feel good-lyrics are a clear indicator of the passion for music that each member shares. Sprinkling drum and bass, funk, and soul in their songs, the hardworking creative lineup includes Andres Ponce (keyboards/samplers/musical direction), Sofy Encanto (vocals), MC. Orion (vocals), Buffalo Brown (guitar), El David (trumpet), Manuel “Papayo” Corao (percussion).
Elastic Bond aims to express their personal stories in each and every tune. “We do this through mixing retro sounds with sounds of today and producing this sound with an approach of mixing electronica and samplers with organic instrumentation and songwriting,” explained Ponce of their process.
Recent collaborations with Locos Por Juana seal the deal on their star power. Their latest album Excursion can be found online at iTunes.
