Actually, there is Sandals on 79th street also. And who could forget the boys of Planeta Macho on Tuesday at Score!

Azucar

Miami's only Latin gay club, Azucar is a vibrant, loud and fun place to salsa or merengue your tail off.

Azucar (which means sugar in Spanish) is located in southwest Miami. The neighborhood club that isn't big on decor or lighting but is big on drink specials, drag shows and hot dancers.

If you’re on the look out for upscale decor and fancy martini drinks, this isn't the place for you. But if you are in the mood for some reggaeton or the lastest in pop-house mixes, Azucar's large dance floor will accommodate you nicely.

The crowd is a mix of young men and women. The main bar is in front of the dance floor and a smaller bar sits off to the left, next to a seating area with tables where you can cool off. Azcuar has a full-service bar and plenty of drink specials so you won't go broke.

Although the club itself is not huge, its focal point is the dance floor that has a platfrom stage in the back. Watch out for the drag shows. The drag queens are very funny and very bilingual, so don't worry if you don't understand Spanish, they will be happy to translate their punch-lines. (Tip: If you stand too close to the stage the drag queens might pick you to go up onstage for their show). If you're picked, pray it's not for a dance-off, because Azucar patrons take their dancing seriously and the crowd's applause determines the winner. Be on the look out for Martytrini y Las Divas del Jacuzzi, these drag queens put on a great show.

There is a parking lot, but it's usually full leaving only limited street parking. There’s no cover before 11:30 p.m., but get there early to avoid the line.

Details: Cover charge varies. There is no cover on Wednesday nights, a $5 cover on Fridays and Saturdays after 11:30 p.m., and a $10 cover on Sundays after 11:30 p.m.
