Aventura Mall Shopping Guide

With 270 stores, Aventura Mall is not just about quantity but about creating a shopping adventure

Aventura Mall 1

By Mariana Rivas

While visiting Miami, we decided to go to the Apple Store in Aventura Mall where my boyfriend wanted to stand in line to purchase the iPad.

One piece of advice my friends gave was to consider Aventura Mall is like Disney World. You can visit it in one day but to really “enjoy” it, it takes two or more days. So if you have more than one day planned for shopping, you know where to spend it.

Even  with 270 stores, Aventura Mall is not simply about quantity, but it offers shoppers a stylish and glamorous experience – consider it an exquisite combination between Fifth Avenue, Rodeo Drive and Le bon Marché en Paris.

We arrived at 10 a.m. and the line at the Apple store had almost 100 people (no surprise)!

Then my boyfriend put me into a spell when he said: “If you want I can wait in line and you can go and visit the mall and buy something.”

Knowing where to start shopping was too difficult because Aventura Mall is anchored by Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Macy's Men Home Furniture, JCPenney and Sears -  too many big stores under one roof! Finally I decided to start in Bloomingdales. Two hours later, I left the store with five bags, one from Louis Vuitton, another from Burberry, two with shoes and one with a tie for my boyfriend.

My next stop was Abercombie & Fitch where I bought T-shirts for my brother, then Miss Sixty, where I got a pair of awesome skinny jeans. To accessorize my jeans I went to Koko-Palenki where you can spend hours trying shoe brands such as Giuseppe Zanotti, Casadei, Dolce & Gabbana, Charles David, Anne Klein, Moschino and more.

If you are buying handbags, there is a huge selection of boutiques within Aventura Mall such as Coach, BcbgMaxazria, Betsey Johnson, Caché, Kade Spade and more.

I stopped by Swin-n-Sport to pick out a daring bikini. Then I went to Aldo where I bought a pair of black boots for my boyfriend.

I had spent over three hours shopping and had spent half of my salary and I had yet to visit over half of the stores at Aventura Mall. I felt exhausted. What to do?

I decided to take a break and visit one of the little cafés along the mall center corridors, like Starbucks and Paul.

After my little break, I decided to spend sometime buying things for my young nephews and nieces. I wasn’t aware that this mall has close to 17 boutiques for children such as Abercrombie, Babycottons, Gapkids, Gymboree, Janie & Jack, Juicy Couture  Kidz, Lego and Limited Too.

The newbie stores here? A giant Louis Vuitton, Camper and Pianegonda.

Six hours and one iPad later, it was time to get some food and celebrate our successes.

The Aventura Mall can be fun and romantic if visited with a friend or family member. There are little gastronomic spots along the mall perfect for a romantic dinner with your loved one. Places like Sushi Siam, Ocean Prime, The Grill on the Alley, Bella Luna, and The Cheesecake Factory can provide the perfect epilogue to your shopping story.
