  • Yappy Hour

On April 15, Wendy and Lucky Diamond will launch their new book, "It’s a Dog’s World," a culmination of a decade of their experience in the pet business, at a Yappy Hour that will benefit the Humane Society of Greater Miami. A $50 donation will allow guests and their doggies to mingle with other animal enthusiasts while sipping on signature puptails and scrumptious hound-d’oeuvres. Books will be available for purchase during the evening with a portion of sales going to the Humane Society of Greater Miami. The event takes place from 7 to 9pm, at the EPIC Hotel (270 Biscayne Blvd.).

  • Emerald Nights for the Transplant Foundation

The Transplant Foundation will host the Emerald Nights event, complete with green carpet, on Friday, April 16, at Jungle Island’s Sable Palm  Plaza  (1111 Parrot Jungle Trail) at  7 p.m. to benefit the local transplant communities throughout South Florida.
 
Expect to party with over 800 guests, including some of South Florida’s most renowned athletes, artists, models and VIPs such as: touring golf pro/two-time heart transplant recipient, Erik Compton, Latin Grammy Winner Jorge Moreno, Star of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Miami” Alexia Echevarria, America’s Next Top Model contestant Anchal Joseph, WSVN Deco Drive’s Aubrey Aquino, MTV’s Ibis Del Mar Nieves, NBC 6’s Roxanne Vargas, Univision’s Karol Rosa, Artist Carlos A. Navarro, E! Television’s Maisi Baserva, Tito Puente Jr, WFOR’s Marybel Rodriguez, Cox radio’ s Natalia de la Cruz among many community leaders and transplant recipients.
 
The night will feature music by DJs Shawn Rudnick and Eskimo and Latin Band, Havana Soul; cocktails by Ron Barcelo Rum, Poland’s Select Vodka, and ArgenVine Wines; an array of delectable entrees provided by Jungle Island and some of South Florida’s finest restaurants including Marky’s Caviar, Melting Pot, Madras Café, Mazza Mediterranean Cuisine, Yambo, 2 Girls and a Cupcake, Ivy at the Grove and Italian Coffee; and an informal trunk show by Lila Nikole.

  • Driven to Dine- Adults only

On Saturday April 17, the Florida Heart Research Institute presents “Driven To Dine" - a unique culinary journey. The evening will begin at 5 p.m., with a cocktail reception crafted by Le Cordon Bleu and cocktails courtesy of Pernod Richard at the palatial Coral Gables home of socialite and philanthropist Bunny Bastian. At 7 p.m., guests will be driven to a first class restaurant by limousine. The destinations are determined through “luck of the draw”- a person from each limo draws an envelope which tells the driver to which restaurant to go —the guests are in suspense until arrival. Priced at $5,000 per limo of eight, the high-priced ticket delivers the promise of delicious food, tremendous fun and the thrill of supporting an important cause.   • Hugs and Kisses

Step aside Bundchen, Moss, and Klum. Some of South Florida’s philanthropic residents (many under the age of 18) will be strutting their stuff on the runway for a good cause! The Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Community Council will present the 11th Annual Hugs & Kisses Fashion Show on Sunday, April 18, at The Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove (3300 SW 27 Avenue). Fifty local children from newborns to 18-year-olds, along with some of their proud parents, grandparents, and friends, will model looks from Dadeland Mall. As part of the event program, seven local students who have made philanthropic contributions to the community will be honored with the Foundation’s Third Annual “I Make a Difference” Award. Model registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the silent auction, gourmet lunch, fashion show and awards ceremony begin at 10:30 a.m. Individual tickets are priced at $150 for adults and $25 for children 16 and under. Tickets must be purchased prior to the event. All proceeds directly benefit Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation, whose sole mission is to create awareness and generate funds for Miami Children’s Hospital, the only licensed specialty hospital in South Florida exclusively for children.   • Pink and Blue for Two

Musical icon and legendary performer, Olivia Newton-John will host a fundraising event along with Dr. Ernie Bodai (creator of the USPS Breast Cancer Stamp) to raise funds for breast and prostrate cancer research."Pink and Blue for Two: Screen Together, Liv Together" (the “e” in “Liv” is omitted intentionally as it is short for “Olivia” and is the name of her outreach organization) will take place on Thursday, April 22 at 7 p.m. at the Raleigh Hotel in South Beach (1775 Collins Avenue).  Michael Valdes, the director of this inaugural event, promises a spectacular evening. "I have known the Newton-John family for almost 20 years and I am honored to be a part of this historic evening." Jon Secada will be performing songs from his new CD, Elaine Lancaster will DJ and Emerson Newton-John, the founder of Full Speed To A Cure, will round out the entertainment. General admission tickets cost $250 for an open bar, full dinner, and Grammy award winning entertainment.There are also opportunities to purchase general tables, VIP tables, private cabanas and even a private reception with Olivia herself in her penthouse suite (which will only be limited to 60 people).   • Barton G. Kids Hear Now Foundation Gala

On Saturday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m., Barton G. Weiss will host his annual gala for the Kids Hear Now Foundation at his latest venue, The Villa By Barton G., formerly the Versace Mansion (1116 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach). The gala’s theme will be “An Evening of Grand Splendor” with proceeds going towards funding further research technology and treatment in the field of cochlear implants for the thousands of newborns born each year with profound hearing loss. Kids Hear Now provides cochlear implants for the underprivileged as well.  Cocktail attire is requested for the party. Tickets cost $1, 250 per person.   • Miami Children’s Museum Gala

The Miami Children’s Museum celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a gala on April 24 at the museum (980 MacArthur Causeway). This year’s host committee is a who’s who of philanthropy’s finest, including Claudia Potamkin, Jeff Berkowitz, Dave Barry, Romero Britto, Gloria & Emilio Estefan, Tracy & Alonzo Mourning, Lisa & Donald Pliner, Nicole Miller, Chris & Pat Riley, Tina Carlo, Nancy Cohen, Marianne Devine, Michelle Diener, Patty Fluxman, Marilyn Gadinsky, Jennifer Boin Getz, Elysze Held, Melissa Lazarus, Gisela Lowenstein, Vicki Miller, Melissa Netkin, Loretta Nunez, Marysol Patton, Darlene Perez, Marlen Pernetti, Norma Quintero, Laurie Riemer, Stephen Riemer, Katharine Rubino, Melissa Sardinia, Lisa Schejola-Akin, Janá Sigar-Malina, Danielle Spiegelman and Tracey Spiegelman.
